I went surfing this morning, as I have been trying to - now that I'm an independent contractor, and the conditions were absolutely amazing. Especially since storms have been forecast for the later parts of today, and well into next week. So, I figured I'd get my fix before it would just be unsafe - health wise - to get back in the water.
We had light to calm offshore winds, the whole time I was out - until 10 am, neoprene warming sunshine, and consistent shoulder to 1ft overhead waves. And, to top this off, I'm beginning to be able to ride waves much better - going just about everyday will do that for a fella.
About 3/4 of the way through my session, I noticed something floating around in the water, just inside of where the sets were breaking. Unsure of what it was or whom it could belong to, I kind of ignored it. But, on my way back to shore, it became clear to me that it was one of those metallic looking balloons. Disgusted enough with what people dump in our ocean, I turned, swam back and proceeded to drag the damn thing in to shore with me.
As I was swimming, I noticed that the balloon read - Get Well Soon - and couldn't help but think that this balloon was not meant for someone lying sick in a hospital, but rather, the ocean.
