Any and all thoughts on this are welcome.
Adicted Productions are a collective group of like-minded creative hip hop artists - encompassing MCs, DJs, Producers and Graff Artists. This logo or "tag" would serve as their main identifying mark - to be carried through a web site, record label, online store and general franchise. It is meant to be "general public friendly" by maintaining readability, yet produced with a graffiti influence.
This is graffiti just around the corner where I live:

i like the bottom design as it encompasses a simplistic attitude. i would like to see it with the drop shadow you have on the top one.

I'm not into whats going on here. Besides the fact that "hip-hop" wanna be groups (the 4 elements or derivatives of) are usually wack as shit. Latching on to hobbies based on something that happened in NYC 3 decades ago makes no sense to the common hip-hopper today. Its rare to see links with the "elements" that are actually legit these days. Sad, but I dont make the rules...
Here's some help on the logo:
the "a" is too wide
The "i,c,and t" aren't very good letterforms. Looks as if you took reference from a few different hands, and that doesn't work well unless you have your own hand down enough. What I'm saying is there is no regulation. To break it down further:
i- lacks balance, a peak like that should be closer to the center, or balanced on the other end. the arrow is very trendy, and is usually read as a "T"
c- the 2 curves in the same direction are not workin for you.
t- too whimpy
Use a chisel tip. and learn to hold it correctly. Again, the "C" shows several different angles in how the pen was held. Dont mouse the letters, draw that shit and vector trace it after you got it down.
This IDEA is ok for a logo, but what differenciates it from graff or other "hip-hop" groups? What does this idea say about your client?

Thanks Graffonty - your comment was by far the best and most thought out critique of this logo I have gotten - and this was posted on 3 forums. I was either getting "I like it" or "This sucks, go jump off a bridge" - with no real explanation. I myself felt that the logo felt a little "wimpy" or lacking rawness - if thats a word. I think it would work really well with some pink on a tight white shirt for some chicks.
The logo is still be worked out - and a chisel tip is in the plans. I've never been a fan of my own handstyles - except on a few rare occasions where I was struck by some dumb luck - in which case I went back later to take a flick.
This was done by hand, scanned, and traced as you suggested. However, the marker was fucked up and dull - so I took the dullness and ran with it.
Round 2 should be posted sometime this month - I'll be reposting on the same 3 forums.
Peace - elmerone
